The heart has long symbolized the core of human emotion and essence, recognized since the 4th century BC not only as a vital organ but as a reflection of the spirit. As a congenital cardiothoracic surgeon, I see the heart’s literal and symbolic importance every day - its rhythm sustained by the precise choreography of electric impulses and responsive muscle.
Elemental Hearts is a series of steel sculptures exploring emotional states through form. Each piece - Enfold, Amend, Falter, Embrace - represents a deeply human action, born of feeling, and shaped by hope.
